In today’s Qigong podcast, Abraham Vega shares how his life's work revolves around Zhineng Qigong and the transformative power of Qigong community. He emphasizes that consistent Qigong practice, particularly in group settings, creates a stronger Qi field, which not only deepens healing but also builds friendships and mutual support. Whether through daily Qigong sessions online, in-person retreats, or casual nature gatherings, Abraham’s organization fosters an environment where practitioners can stay committed to their personal growth and well-being.

Abraham also touches on the expanding horizon of Qigong research, referencing scientific studies in collaboration with national universities. These scientific studies show promising effects of Zhineng Qigong on mind-body connection, DNA expression, and healing. Beyond the data, he reflects on how teaching Qigong and helping others become teachers has helped reduce ego in Qigong spaces, replacing competition with collaboration. His own Qigong transformation led him from a career in engineering to a purpose-driven life, raising children through Qigong parenting, practicing in nature, and embodying a Qigong lifestyle grounded in balance, awareness, and community connection.

Join Abraham as he shares how Zhineng Qigong, daily group practice, and the power of community can help you cultivate deep healing, lasting friendship, and a purpose-driven life - all through the wisdom of Qigong!

Abraham Vega runs one of the most successful zhineng qigong organizations worldwide. We talk about the power of a community that has extended beyond the qi field to friendship and mutual support, his own growth paths and the gong research done in cooperation with a local university. My name is Torsten Lüddecke, and this is the Wisdom Qigong Podcast.

Hello everyone, and let me welcome a Abraham Vega today. Abraham is from Mexico and he runs the famous Vida zhineng qigong organization Uh, Abraham, welcome to the show. Thank you, Torsten. It's a pleasure to be here. And hello to every one of your friends here in your, in your podcast.

Thank you very much Abraham. And when we connected, I asked what would you like to talk to, uh, talk about today? And you wanted to talk about the community. So I thought, you know, maybe let's start with this and maybe you can explore this topic a little bit. Well, um, I think community is, uh, the power issue or, or topics in zhineng qigong, what really makes it very, very effective because when we work, uh, when we practice, uh, zhineng qigong, we mainly form qi field and the qi field is so strong when we do with many people and when these people is, um.

In harmony, uh, we have good, uh, friendship, relationships with between us then the, the Qief is, uh, much more, uh, bigger and stronger. So that's why, uh, I think that's one of the, the biggest, benefits of Qin Qi to, to practice in community and then to make qi feel stronger. Now I, I know that for Dr.

Pang, uh, the community and the qi field of the group was also very important. And this probably had a huge effect on the success of the medicine, this hospital where healing happened, you know, so often and like a miracle. And so I totally get what you're saying here. When you talk about the power of, uh, of the community Now, how do you, how do you implement that in practice?

Because, um, I don't know, are you, are you guys practicing as a group? Uh, or how do you make sure you can harvest the power of the community? Yes. We have many activities in community. Uh, one is, uh, we practice every day online. Uh. Since one friend starts at 4:00 AM I do at 6:00 AM another friend at 7, 8, 9, 10:00 AM Different teachers that we have been gathering together, uh, through the last years.

Um, we practice, uh, with a group online. Many people from many places in Mexico and other countries, uh, practice together every day. Also in the evening and night, we have other, other groups. That's one of the. like, the more important, uh, activities we have relate to, to practice the, the methods. We also have, uh, meetings on Friday where we talk just like this, about the benefits, about doubts, about the sharing experiences, sharing difficult moment that we have all in life and how to go through, uh.

Yes, through the practice of and also sharing experiences, that is also a very important way to learn from one and each other. And that's called the, the Cafe Cheeto, the Coffee qi on Friday. So we do that every Friday is very nice. And also we do, uh, two times a month, uh, walking. We say the qi walk-ins, uh, to the mountains, to the forest.

We go in groups, uh, to practice in the, in the nature. And that also makes us, uh, um, help us to experience adventures and also to share the life and friendship and practicing, uh, in the nature. That's so powerful also. And also we do retreats. Uh, we start our retreat tomorrow or four days. We do these like four, uh, times a a year.

And also the, these travelings we do to Beijing to keep learning. And also it's something we do in community. So there are many, many activities we, we do. Uh, the other thing we do is every month we have a practice. We have been doing this for 170, uh, 17 months. Uh, every month we gather together, practice like, um, the whole morning until 2:00 PM and we do a very good qi field also.

So that's, uh, our main activities based on community and that helps us to be, uh, very stable and happy. That is amazing. I don't think any other organization has such a powerful community work than what you have described just here. How big is the community that you are, that you are involved in? How many people are there in total?

I don't know exactly the numbers, but, uh, well, in some, uh, in the, I think it. I don't know. I don't have a specific number, but sometimes we gather in the retreats, like 40 peoples. In Qina, we just been like, uh, 20 peoples in the, in the walk-ins. Normally we are like 20, 30 people, so there are different groups.

In the morning, we have every teacher like more than. 30 people, uh, in the monthly practice, uh, 100 people. But there are always different, uh, people. So I, I, I can say a number. What is, uh, it is a, a very nice, uh, community. Maybe not like thousands, thousands of people, but these people that we really know each other and we care of, uh, each other.

And so maybe. I don't know how, how, how many, but, but it's a, a strong group. Right? Right. But it, it sounds to me that it's that, obviously, I mean, the, the Qief field is much stronger when you practice together, but you. You guys seem to be there for each other, for all questions of life. So when you say that you have, uh, you know, regular meetings where people can talk about their doubts, about their problems, and you support each other, so it's really the community thought, uh, which, uh.

It has nothing to do with zhineng qigong as such. It is really people supporting each other and doing activities together. And on top of that, uh, you have the zhineng qigong Qi field of the group, which obviously is so powerful. Is that, uh, is that a good way to describe it? Yes, of course. And the basic is zhineng qigong, everything is about zhineng qigong.

This, uh, talkings, uh, the doubts and I think it's all based on zhineng qigong theory. Practicing it is just what we do zhineng qigong not other methods or other things because I think zhineng qigong already very complete and very, eh, simple. But at the same time, eh, so powerful. So we are totally in, in the practice. Uh, in the practice of first level, second level, third level, the ENT practices.

Um, also the fa qi. So we do everything around the practice.

And, uh, would you say that be because you, I mean, one of the, one of the things that I hear often from students is that they, uh. Many countries in many parts of the world, they go to a week, a weekend workshop, and they're very excited about what they learn, and then they go back home and there is no support.

So, and then they kind of forget about it, or they find it difficult to practice on their, uh, on their, on their own. But I, it seems to me that because you have this structure where basically anytime there's something happening, so at any not, it doesn't matter what my day looks like. I will always find the possibility, maybe I can join this teacher in the online session today, or maybe I can go to that teacher in the online session, or I can go and join you on the nature walk.

So I think this is very supportive also for people to keep in the Qigong Qiang Qigong mindset and, uh, to keep up the practice and not to get lost, uh, uh, along the track. Um, do you see that in your groups? Yeah, totally. That's why we have been introducing these activities. It was not at the beginning. All that together, we have been doing as the committee asked for it, because we saw what you mentioned, the, I've been practicing for 20 years and, and this was not like this from the beginning.

And the people, sometimes I think the. Um, the 10% of the people, uh, really, um, keep practicing at, uh, uh, long term because usually when the people ha uh, find the themselves alone at home practicing, it's not very, uh, easy to, to keep going. So we have been introducing little by little the practice online and the, these meetings and the practice, uh, in person.

So. This is a, a response from the necessity of the people to, to have something to, to, keep going. So I think it's important that, that, uh, every community in zhineng qigong and everywhere, uh, really help each other to, to keep going. I think this is very powerful, uh, because, uh, at the end of the day, uh, you, you have.

AQieved, uh, an energy and, Uh, being together with a group of teachers where it seems that there is, you know, very little ego involved, that there's very little competition involved because everybody is just working together for the common goal. And I know that, uh, the idea of no competition and we are all one and we all want to work together and there shouldn't be any ego.

The idea is big, but it's not so easy to implement that because we are also human beings. And I can see a lot now with. Wanting to point fingers here, but in the community overall worldwide, that there is quite a bit of competition and that people are, or teachers are protective about their students and they don't want to share them with others.

But it seems you've created a qi field, um, in your country and with your group where, you know, you've overcome this. maybe you can talk a little bit about that, because, you know, how, how comes that you've aQieved that. Yes, it's, it's, uh, a long, uh, part of, of learning at the beginning. We have a, um, a difficult experience with the previous, uh, groups we had, and that, uh, teaches a lot.

How important was to not think that the students are, uh, the position of one teacher. So through this experience, I, we have changed many things and, and I really never say that some students are my students. I always say that they are our, uh, classmates, our, our partners, and we, one important thing that we do and and that help to do this is to help others to become teachers.

So that's why we. Eh, help them to prepare. And then we go to Beijing to, to see our teachers, eh, changing, well known as Helen Kar. And then we help others to become teachers and, and really enjoy the, this other part of the, of the practice that is to teach others. So I think that's important to help other, other, uh, persons to, to teach, uh, their own community.

So that's something that I think is, is, is good that the first you become friends and when you are friends with others that you help to, to become teachers, you cannot be competing with them because they are your friends. And, and, well, you need to, we need to practice all the time to, to see our ego because as you mentioned, we are humans and it's, it is you, it is normal that, uh.

Uh, these feelings appear and and you have to observe them and, and you have to change them because, you know, it's, it is, it's not good for you to, to behave, eh, in that way. And as I think as much as you practice, it's, uh, more strong the, the effect that you feel when your ego starts, uh, uh, pushing you to do something that is not, uh, aligned with the, with the Qi movement, right?

So that's another part that eh, also helps to the people to. To behave better. The, when you practice strong, the Qi will as teacher, uh, some teacher said the Qi will punish you if you, if you really go against the flow of the information, the flow of the nature. So that's something. But, but I think the, the, the easy way to do it is to really, uh, make friends.

If you make friends with other, you cannot compete because they are your friends. And that's it. That's beyond the, the. The incomes beyond the other things, the friendship. Hmm. So if you look. Uh, I mean, we've spoken about the community idea and I think it is very powerful what you've shared here with us.

And, uh, I can see that, uh, your community is very open, so you are basically, uh, giving any Spanish speaker the possibility to join. Right? It doesn't have, they don't have to be from Mexico necessarily. Uh, if they're from another Spanish speaking country and they would like to join your session, I suppose they're welcome, right?

Yes, everyone can join in. some people that speak English can join and maybe follow the movements, maybe don't understand everything, but they can join. Right, right. And I think this is a great, you know, example, and it would be lovely if we can create something like this in other language communities as well, uh, because, uh, you know, we are all facing the similar, uh, challenges and similar issues and similar topics.

And this idea of being in a, in a continuous community, not just a community for a weekend workshop or something like that, or the occasional meetup or the occasional online free session or something. Um, I, I think it. If he can con connect on a continuous basis and as you said, to do it via friendship, then uh, this can be so much more powerful and can bring zhineng qigong as such on a completely new level in the, in the, in the country.

So, uh, I think this is a fantastic work that you are doing there, and I'm very curious to hear, you know, what your personal learnings have been from that, because you've been involved and you've been running this for quite some time. So what are your learnings. From all of that, uh, maybe you would like to share this a little bit with our audience today.

I, I think the, uh, for example, I started doing this, uh, practice every day, uh, since almost 10 years ago. And, and I did it because I, I need it. At the beginning I did because I need to direct practice so I can improve, uh, when I teach and, and keep practicing because it's, it is easy to get distracted to, to, I like the mountain.

I like the bike. I like painting. I like many things. I like doing work, uh, uh, good, uh, craft, uh, like, uh, carpenter things. So I, I needed something to design. How to keep practicing, eh, good many hours a day. Really, eh, try to, to discover all the things that teacher Pang says in their books.

Uh, the teacher explain. So, the only way to guarantee to myself to keep practicing, eh, hard is to, to to share it with others. Uh, that's why I started to sharing my practice and said, I offer this practice, uh, if anyone, anyone can, uh, is useful for them. I don't say, this is the only way to practice when I teach.

I said, this is something, some. Um, possibility that you can join in practicing group, but you can also do by yourself. But it helped me a lot to, to do it with the community because, eh, it helped. I, I have a, a schedule, I have a, like a compromise with others. So I wake up early in the morning, I practice at the beginning.

It was a little effort. Eventually it become very natural and now I really enjoy it to practice together, even though it is. Online, the Qi Field will feels very strong. Uh, I feel stronger the Qi Field when I practice in group online than when I do by myself alone. So that's, uh, something I have really, uh, get a benefit from practicing in group.

Some people say that, ah, you're very good person because you give, online, uh, classes every day with no cost. And I say. I am, the first that I has a benefit from this is, is, uh, sometimes don't, people don't understand, but, but really it's is, I, I really am, I'm grateful to the community that they join in every day and we can practice together.

It is, it is very, very powerful. This part. Yes, yes. I understand that. And, uh, I'm, I'm glad you're saying that because, uh, sometimes now, even when, with me, when I do these interviews, people say, oh, thank you very much for doing these interviews. But for me it's the biggest joy obviously. And the learnings I get out of it is just so fantastic.

So, uh, I totally get what you're saying here. Um, a, anything else, um, Abraham that you learned along the way, you know, about either the power of the community or about anything else in your personal development while you were practicing Well, it actually changed my whole life, the change. I studied in mechanical engineering and I was, uh, a mechanical engineer in the pharmaceutical industry.

And I live a, a common life as a very hardworking person, but I was like not very, like, happy all the time because it was very, very difficult. Know the, the work so many hours and many months sometimes don't have rest. Uh, and I, I, I like the engineering work, but with, with zhineng qigong, I discover and I, it started to help me to connect more with myself, uh, more with, uh, my real, eh, nature and really change everything in my life.

I, I've been practicing, as mentioned 20 years along my wife, Andrea, that we together did, uh. Build this, uh, project. We have two kids. They were, uh, born here at home without a medicine and we did, uh, doing zhineng qigong organizing the Qi field, doing La Qi. So that's maybe one of the most, uh. important Achievement we have as a family to, to receive these babies at home practicing zhineng qigong and raise them, eh, with zhineng qigong, they don't go to school.

We don't, we do homeschooling and the basis of every work we do here is also zhineng qigong how to. To connect with them, how to help them connect with themselves, to to manage the emotions, manage their own Qi. They, they learn to do the, and where, where they were, uh, babies. So it is like, uh, very beautiful to, to experience zhineng qigong through the process of their, their lives.

And now they're football players and we help them to use zhineng qigong to, to manage the, the anxiety of the, of the play, the games, um, the relationships. So, so I, I think we have been. Trying to, to introducing each in every part of our lives. Uh, so we have been, I have been, uh, healthy for these 20 years not having really medicines.

Uh, so I think it's like something that, uh, help me a lot to, to see the. That is, uh, very real and powerful, the, the benefits of opportunity. And every time I, I keep practicing and learning. This time I just arrive yesterday from, from China to be one month with, eh, our teachers there in Beijing. And every time I keep learning and learning from, from them, from other, Classmates and I see that the, the theory of zhineng qigong is so big and the possibility of of, of growing and Achievements , so are really a long term process. So I think we are just starting to. To, to see what zhineng qigong is. And, and it's very exciting to, to, to keep learning and to keep discovering the use of the mind, the, the ET, the to, to really, uh, keep, keep, uh, practicing to, to enjoy more, more life and help others to suffer less and enjoy life.

So I think it's sad. Very, very beautiful life that zhineng qigong have gave me, and, and it is interesting because I remember somewhere at the beginning of the conversation you said that zhineng qigong is a very complete system and yet very simple. Still after 20 years, although it is so simple, there's always, you know, learning.

Um, and I think you described this beautifully 'cause if we listen to you, it feels like okay, you've been doing zhineng qigong for 20 years, you've integrated it so well with your family and it's basically a present every moment of the day and the work you're doing with others. And, uh, and you say it's a simple, it's a simple technique at the end, but still, you know, your, you, I can see your excitement, um, about still learning new things about it, discovering new things about zhineng qigong.

And I think this is a beautiful way to describe it, uh, because, um, the, the, the, the, um. Essence of Gene. It doesn't stop. Even though you know it's simple. And even though you know, once you understand the basic, it's quite. Clear, but the, but the, uh, the, the, the, um, the, the constant energy you get from that, the constant, um, uh, joy and the constant, um, connection, um, that doesn't stop.

And I think this is something that's quite visible in now, how you have incorporated zhineng qigong in your daily life. Um, that, uh, it's, it's, it's. You, uh, you probably, yeah, I imagine that now you probably wake up in the morning with a smile looking forward to do some practice and, uh, to be in the, in the right consciousness, state of consciousness, because it's just so much fun, isn't it?

Yes, yes. It's so interesting and I'm very pleasant to, to feeling in that, uh, Qi Field state, uh, Qigong state. So it's something that, uh, the body ask for it and, and you like to learn more. And, and, and, and really, I think ly you mentioned about the ego. Sometimes it makes things difficult between the people and groups, but when you really, when we, we realize that there, there is so much to, to learn, so much, to really develop, you cannot be like proud too much to have too much proud because there's a lot to, to, to Achieve, to learn to, to.

To understand. So I think it's important to keep, as you mentioned, every day wake up with a smile, with curiosity, with love to the, to you, to your practice, and to keep, uh, doing, uh, reading the books, knowing new people like, like you. So that's very interesting. Like, uh, connect with with others that are passionate about the life, the, the science, the mind.

What are your plans for the future? Do you have any plans in mind for zhineng qigong? Yes. This month is a hard working month because we will start a second phase of, uh, research that we are doing with, uh, in collaboration with, uh, Institute of, uh, called Genetics, national Institute in Mexico, and also the faculty of psychology in the Uni National University.

Uh, so we did that, uh, LA two years ago. Uh, the, the doctor, Sandra Romero, she, we, we teach the first level, then we practice every day for three months. At the beginning, she took some, eh, blood test and at the end also blood test, and she extracted the DNA and eh, she, after a lot of work, she. So some genes, eh, improve their activity, eh, more specifically the genes related to the, to the, well, the, I, I, I forgot the word of the, is the part of the cell that, that, that has the energy, the I.

I will remember in, in a few minutes I will, I called micro, micro miria or something. Ria, is that the word? Yeah. Yeah. The micro, yeah. Yes. That means the micro miria. Yes. I'm sure our biology, biology experts will know.

She, she that, so that was very interesting. So she could have more resources to do it again. But now she will add also to, uh, to research about the, the microbiology of the intestines. And also in the psychology, uh, faculty, they will test the electricity of the brain. Another, uh, like cognitive, uh. Abilities.

Um, we will do again at the beginning. Uh, we will teach now for this second phase, the second, uh, level of zhineng qigong and the first level for the new group. And we'll practice again one hour every day for three months. And at the end they will test, uh, have the, take the blood test and the intestine. Uh, and, and I think it will be, uh, another good achievement.

So that's what is coming now in May. We have other retreats in and other workshops, but this is, I think, the most important thing that we have, um, very, very soon. That's a, that's a great project. So are you saying the people that have been part of the first group you are, you are working with them again and teaching them level two now?

yes. The people that, that joining the project two years ago, they already took the first level. This time we will teach them second level and a new group. They will learn first level, so there will be a bigger group. Now there are signing the project, 400 people. So that will be something would, That's amazing. I definitely want to hear about the results, so maybe we can have a, you know, another podcast in, uh, three or four months time when, uh, the, the, uh, research is over to see what the results were and, uh, what, uh, you have discovered, uh, along the way because, um, uh, we all have our.

Western logical minds and sometimes we just, yeah, we just love to see proof that zhineng qigong is working, uh, scientific proof because yeah, we, most of us have experience now our everyday life, but to haves, uh, a research, proper research done, uh, it's always very difficult in zhineng qigong, but, uh, it's great that you are in touch with the university and that you are cooperating there.

Um, and yeah, and I'm very curious. To see what the results will be. I've got no doubt that the results will be incredible and that you will see something, but it's obviously very nice to see that on paper and, uh, see, uh, what exactly you found out during this month. Yes. Um, yes. I, I hope the, the doctors write the, the paper soon, uh, the two years ago, they are writing now, so I, I hope they can publish soon.

And the second round, I think will be also in, in some months. But, eh, I now remember the thing is the mitochondria. Mitochondria, yes. Mitochondria. Yes. Yes, yes.

With Dr. Sandra Romero.

Eh, it, it, we're very lucky that she is interested in doing zhineng qigong research because actually she was like the one that asked me if I want to join in the project. And I say, of course, but eh, she's a scientist and she experiencing herself in her own healthy the benefits of zhineng qigong. And she, as, as she was working with the disease so many years, it was very sad to her to always, uh, research and.

Put all her talent in, in researching sickness and very horrible, uh, genetic, uh, disease. So she really tried to, to research about healthy and what, uh, makes the human healthier. So that's why. Uh, she wanted to, uh, to research through zhineng qigong that is very systematic. It's very stable, how people can improve their health, and to demonstrate that, uh, we don't need a lot of medicine to maintain healthy.

We, we can do with a good use of the mind, with use of the body. And, and so that's so important what she's doing. I hope many, many scientists join in the zhineng qigong research. And I've seen that now Japan is keep working, eh, on research on many fields in China, they told our teachers now are developing a research in with diabetes.

It's a two year program of researching diabetes because they have been, eh, having very good results in, in, in the University of Beijing. And so they now are doing a, a, a longer research in diabetes. Great. Great. I think this is beautiful, um, and very important to get also new. People interested in zhineng qigong, uh, because it's through this research where people that are not naturally drawn towards the mindset of zhineng qigong will probably get, uh, curious and want to know more about, okay, what is this exactly?

If it has that effect on people's bodies, um, and people's health. So I think this is a great way of, um, opening the door and invite more people into our community, uh, to benefit from this incredible work. thank you very much, Abraham. is there anything you would like to add to the podcast?

Anything that you feel like we should discuss or that we have missed out? No, I, it is also a pleasure to talk with you. Thank you very much and congratulations for this, uh, podcast. I want to tell the, the zhineng qigong friends that, uh. We should, uh, be every time more, uh, as a whole community in the world, um, to be more friendly each other, to cooperate to, to practice hard, to really discover the, the great power of the human mind and body and, and the zhineng qigong so thank you very much.

Thank you very much Abraham.
