Having the mental strength while healing is so important, but can be a difficult task. In today's Qigong podcast, Zhineng Qigong practitioner Lot Wijlhuizen explains how to cultivate a strong and positive mindset on a journey to complete wellness.

Lot expands on Mingtong Gu's self-healing approach in Zhineng Qigong, emphasizing the need to shift to a higher energy state. This requires changing one's frame of reference and thoughts through consistent Qigong practice. Many people become defined by their diagnosis, creating attachment to symptoms that keeps them stuck. Moving to a higher consciousness through dedicated practice is key to breaking this pattern.

Acceptance is number two. Lot says you have to accept the place you're in and develop trust. Again, in the Zhineng Qigong Practice, acceptance doesn't mean you now become your diagnosis, but rather accepting the situation for what it is, not resisting it. Because in Qigong when we are whole or one with a situation, when there's no resistance there's peace and stillness, and often trust develops. Self acceptance is also an important aspect for this step - this garners self love, trust and an overall kindness towards yourself.

In Zhineng Qigong, intention is crucial. While many focus only on eliminating symptoms, Lot emphasizes creating a clear vision of the ultimate end goal. Through Qigong, practitioners should embody their healed state, acting as if already wellโ€”a powerful expression of trust in the healing journey.

Choosing joy and gratitude is next. In Zhineng Qigong when you worry you follow the fear, but when you choose gratitude and joy you fill and strengthen the Qi field with love. You must make a conscious choice to choose gratitude, even in difficult times on your healing journey, seeking community through Zhineng Qigong is always a good thing as you have the right support. And the Qi field always has strength in numbers.

When Lot Wijlhuizen went through her very own healing process, she wondered how to keep her mental strength while healing. At that time, the process of healing was a total mystery to her. Fast forward 15 years, she now teaches people the five essential steps or elements of any self healing. In this episode, she shares her insights with us.

My name is Torsten Lueddecke. And this is the wisdom Qigong podcast.

Hello everyone. Today I've got Lot Wijlhuizen with me. Lot has been a guest before and we did a fantastic podcast on Qi reactions. So if you haven't seen that, go and check it out. But today I've got a different topic with Lot. When I spoke to her, she said, I'd really talk to you about the secrets of Qi healing, or as she puts it, how to keep your mental strength while healing.

Lot, this is very exciting to all of us. So maybe, what brought you to this topic?

when I started healing myself 15 years ago and when I started training with different masters, for me it was one big mystery. How to heal myself, you know, how that works. And in that time, we, I just, you know, went to all the workshops I could go to and all they, they, they just told me like, just practice, you know, practice, practice, practice.

And then in the end you will be healed. And I didn't have a clue what they meant. So those first years I was writing down everything to understand also the process of healing. So, so why does this work? I knew it worked. I felt it was working for me. I was feeling better and better, but I never knew exactly what, what was, what was necessary or what, what I could do, what the steps were.

and then, you know, training more and more and also talking to so many people also in the West that managed to heal themselves. That managed to overcome cancer or overcome Parkinson's, MS, you know. Then, you know, I got a clue like, okay, this is actually what's going on. This is actually why this is working.

This is actually why people heal. so then I actually formulated like a sort of a model for myself, like a five step model that I still use sometimes when I'm in a new situation that I actually also can then treat as a, as a new healing process for myself, just as a sort of, well, it's not a checklist of course, because there's a hundred things that happening when you're healing.

Right.

but, but that, for me that was helpful. So also when I, when Qiching, I'm a full time Qicher and a full time, Hunyuan Qi therapist. So when I'm coaching people in their process of healing, we sometimes just take those steps and, and see, okay, so where are you like in your process and how can I help you?

What would be now a good gong to do or, or, or what, what is preventing you still from healing? You know what is the key for you in here? And then it gets more transparent. Yeah,

think this is, this is great because we all ask these, these questions, because we, we, everybody knows some people that have healed very in others, where it just didn't seem to work or didn't bring the desired results. How can we best approach this together a lot? Do you want to take us through your own healing story maybe first, and then we develop the steps from there, or what is a good way to dive into these, into these steps?

I'll just read them and then, then maybe my, my own story comes up, or, or other stories come up. You know, Mingtong Gu, he was the one who formulated like three steps and I just added two of them, so I'll tell that. So the first one actually is like, maybe it's, it's, for some people it's, it's, like a surprise, but it's start moving. So start moving because you have to, to move towards an other energy. You have to place yourself in a new energy. That is what healing is all about. You moving yourself into an other energy. So not the energy that maybe caused your illness or whatever, but a new one. But how do you move yourself towards this new energy is to start moving first is to start practicing.

let's look into this a little bit so, so we, so everybody understands and I

understand. so when you say start moving, you don't actually mean a physical exercise like a movement. You mean you have to move as a person because whatever you are in at the moment make you ill. Right? So the only way to, to, to change that is to move into another state.

Is that what you mean by that?

yeah, so for me it's very clear to say you didn't do anything wrong. It's not your fault. So there is responsibility, but there's never guilt.

Right.

so, so, but you can just say, okay, something in my energy apparently is not working because, you know, things come up, my body reacts in a way that causes symptoms.

So you don't, you never want to follow those symptoms. You just want to change your energy back to an energy that is like. more helpful for you where the vibration is higher. so, so, so we also say the physical stuff that is, you know, showing up, it's just a result of the Qi and the information. of the past.

So that's actually not interesting to look at your symptoms. So, so the whole Western world, Western medicine focus on treating those symptoms. That is not what we have to do. We can ignore the symptoms. Just, you know, let, let it go. Just work on your energy field. And it has to be like, you know, recharging Qi.

exchanging Qi, and of course, you know, transforming your information in your field. So working with frame of reference, your, your thoughts, your, everything, the way you respond. So you're actually improving your, ability to respond to life, your responsibility. so, but the first step for Mingtong Gu was actually to accept everything first.

So to accept yourself and the place you're in, everything in your life, also everything that happened, but also everything that is in the now, which also has to do with Well, improving self love, because if you accept everything, also from yourself, there is already a very big gain, and then you develop a big, a deeper trust in yourself, so that's all related.

but how do you improve your information? That is of course by setting your intention every day. So be very clear about your life intention or your healing intention, which is never, I don't want those symptoms to be there anymore. Because of course, that's what we want, but that is not how we set an intention.

An intention is always formulated positively what we really want. So, so if you, if you, so for me, when I couldn't, you know, sit or walk when they, when they told me you will never walk properly again, I said, no, no, no, you're, you're mistaken because I'm gonna. Ski, because that's my hobby and I want to teach my daughter how to ski because that to me is the most important thing is that I can have that experience.

So I put in the qi field in my information field, you know, the deepest intention of me and her running down the slopes skiing. So, so there's always, there's always a deeper intention behind. your healing intention. Why do you want to heal? Because that is, I want to experience fun and love. Well, then you can already connect with fun and love because that is always possible no matter what the circumstances are.

We have a way you can discover Qigong. At the Zhineng Qigong Student Hub, we know that understanding Qigong is very important. And also, that Zhineng Qigong in itself has various nuances that people can't easily comprehend. So we've approached it in the style of a video game. On this page, Discover Qigong, you can select your character. So you can either be a beginner, a practitioner, or a holistic healer or self healer, and you click on your character and it takes you to these different sections. In these sections, you can explore the nuances and when you click on a card, all of the resources pop up and we've made it really fun and not many people know about it. So if you are interested, have a look and discover Qigong.

And is that still part of the step number one? Start moving because you are moving towards your intention in this case, or are we already further here? No

Yeah. Okay. I'll repeat. So one is start moving. You know, start practicing and dedicated practice every day, one hour, two hours, three hours, depending on your situation to step two is acceptance, you know, activate acceptance. Step three for me is then set your intention so you can accept how it is now.

And, you know, that is where you want to go. Because so then you said, okay, it's, it's, it's, I'm, you know, this is. This is okay. Everything is okay, exactly how it is. And I'm moving there, which is my deepest intention. so then you start working with your, with your energy and your information. So that was step three.

So when we talk about acceptance, I think there's a fine line between, between accepting This is where I am right now versus accepting that I am this poor, pity, ill person. So, one is connecting with the illness, while the other one is simply, you know, a fact.

Like, okay, this is where I am now, I'm in Paris now, but I want to go to Berlin. So Berlin is my vision, I accept I'm in Paris, so here's my path, and I'm going to start moving towards Berlin, right? So I'm not, but I'm not connecting with this information, otherwise I would be stuck in my illness. So that's, that's, that's why I think it's important to understand, you know, in which way this acceptance is meant.

While beautifully put. and you can, you can be in Paris. While you already are enjoying the feeling you will have when you are in Berlin, and also already take that Berlin feeling back into Paris, because that is already then you're, you know, turning your energy to where you want to go.

And where you want to be. So why wait? Why not just keeping all, you know, taking already that energy in your Qi field? Because it's, in the end, about you moving into that other energy field. so, so you don't have to wait. You can already be super joyful and happy and experiencing a deep sense of health.

Without being like, maybe without all the symptoms, that's, that's, that's a different world. And then the symptoms will follow, so the body will always follow later. You're healing the life. The body will follow. It's actually not interesting to focus on the body because it's actually just a result of the past.

Information and qi. so you can already be joyful and grateful for the good result, actually. You already moving there. You already being in that qi field. so exactly what you say is sometimes what happens is that people get so overwhelmed by their symptoms that they. cannot, you know, do what they want to do.

I, I couldn't of course do what I want to do if you, if you cannot walk or sit, then there's a lot of things you cannot do. So then you have to be careful not to slip into this illness, qi field actually, where you become the illness, where you become your physical problem where you actually, you said, that you identify with this and then it becomes all your energy and then it becomes your world, which keeps you also stuck in that place.

So then you have to start moving literally and mentally. Absolutely.

and I think this is maybe also why Mingtong Gu suggests us accepting it. Because once you accept it, it, it loses the energy over you. As long as you resist it, you're, you basically identify yourself with the thing and it becomes bigger and bigger and bigger. If you just accept it the way it is, if you look outside and it's raining.

But it's not a big deal, it's raining, and then you forget about it, then you can move on. If I'm getting all worked up about the fact that it should be sunny today, but then it's raining, and so on, and so on, I get stuck in this energy, which is, you know, I think this is important, so I think this is the way acceptance is meant.

accept it, let go. And then, you know, you're free to do what you just described as this beautiful anticipation of what is going to come. It's a bit like a child before Christmas. Now the days before Christmas is coming up. All this joy is already there because the child knows why it's going to be a great day and lots of presents and family and biscuits and I don't know what.

So, so this is what you're suggesting, huh, when you connect with, with what will come and when you connect with your vision and how beautiful in your case it would have been, it would be, it will be when you are with your, with your daughter doing skiing on the slopes,

Yeah.

Okay, cool. I think I got it.

Yeah. So, so then I had to visualize us skiing so many times because I was in a lot of pain and my body was, after a few years of not being able to walk or stand or run or sit, of course also weakened. So then it's extra extra thing to think, Oh, you know, I don't care what others say. I don't care what the doctors say.

So there's always this, this, this big independence of thinking about your life and your body and your physical symptoms and to, to connect with the good information, which was like, okay, my body is very strong and I can, you know, run down the slopes. And then I also could attract the right help. So then I attracted the people that supported me in that.

specific, information and told me, yeah, if you want to go skiing, okay, you know, I can help you. And then I had the right persons around me also to support me in that. energy and that intention. yeah. So then you move yourself out of this, this, this qi field that keeps you in place. And, you, you also need to, to develop awareness around your energy and around your thoughts frame of reference, because otherwise you don't know that you're stuck in that energy.

without of course wanting that, because everybody wants to heal, but then we just cannot find how, you know, we, we, we, so then the first step is just to do the Qigong and just start and to trust that in the end your, your Tao, your, your path will be revealed and the things you will have to let go of. will be revealed, but it's not a puzzle you can solve, you know, when it's, when it happens.

I thought I said, Oh, I do something wrong. So I just have to, you know, know what the puzzle to make, and then I can solve it. It's not how it goes. It's just step by step learning, growing, feeding yourself with new Qi, then in that way also being more clear, you know, in Upper Dantian, in that way being more able to, to, to have this stronger information, to have like, yi yuan ti stronger, so you can work with the Qi better.

You are more aware so you can let go of certain patterns and stuff. And then already, you know, it goes up and up with the qi, with the, with the, with the consciousness. Then the emotions, maybe after with me, it took 10 years. Suddenly then the emotional. Part of my healing journey came up, and it was very clear that it was time to work with middle Dantian and, and, and the hormones and all organs and emotions.

And then you develop further and further and further. And then you suddenly you think, huh, so my whole, my whole life has been healed. Oh, and now my body too. Thank you. You know? so, so trust in the journey, trust your path,

Now on your journey, because you mentioned, you said it took you 10 years to be healed emotionally. I just want to make sure people don't misunderstand that. So it doesn't mean you had to wait 10 years for healing. You know, other aspects had healed much earlier, but you knew or you didn't know. I don't know, but there was something still missing, which was the emotional part.

And that only result was resolved after 10 years. Now, which

that's a bit of a funny thing maybe to share because I had physically healed so I could go skiing, but the slopes were a bit more, busy, you know, and I was still not wearing a helmet because in my time, there was no need and then I thought this is quite crowded here and, you know, so then somebody run me over.

And I had a bad skiing accident again, so then I had, concussion and brain, really brain damage. And then I had again to do the whole healing process and also like, but then on a deeper level also with the, because your nervous system also then reacts. And then emotions came up suddenly, so that for me, it was the time to also heal that because otherwise I would still not be out of that.

so life will help you, Qi will help you, things that happen also will help you. But of course, then we had to go back to step one, acceptance, because of course I wasn't too happy with this. You know, I was healed, I could ski, and then Somebody runs me over and I can start all over. so that took a bit longer to accept and then just start over and see it as the biggest present ever and to embrace life and everything that is, presented actually to me again.

And, and then you just start the process all over again, but on a different level. And now it was actually, on an emotional level that I had to work.

The emotional level, I just bring that up because often we do Qigong and we have successes, you know, there's healing, the symptoms disappear, and then we think we are healed. But if the emotional level isn't healed yet, it means there's a fair chance that we will relapse. And that, things come back.

This is, you know, also something that is a, is a fact of life sometimes, you know, the disease comes back and the reason is most of the time, you know, according to my knowledge, that, you know, there were aspects that weren't healed yet, like the emotional side of things, which then means the emotions are still not healed.

You know, they'll come back and they present the same problem to say hello, you know, here we are. And, there's still something to work on. Right?

Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. so you could also say, on your path of, of, of, of awakening of, or personal growth, the spiritual growth, growth, of course, in, in, in, in more and more, becoming one, you know, one with the true self and, and, and, the ego self or, or the, the less conscious self, you know, in, in that whole, dowel of, of experiencing, knowing really who you are. of course, there are different levels and you go deeper and deeper. So, so I mean, I again, healed completely. My physical body doesn't mean that my journey is, Done. There can always be new things or, things that I really have to deal with again and then work with again.

But it will be easier and easier because, you know, your ability to respond to life grows. So you can work on it on a higher level less emotions coming up because the system , gets calmer. You get more conscious.

So, when we look at your list, we had number one, moving,

number two, acceptance, number three, connect with your intention or your

hmm. Very good,

and number, thank you, and number four?

Well, I already mentioned it a little bit, but not as a step four. but Mingtong Gu does. He, he, he says activate joy. So choose for joy, choose appreciation, choose gratefulness. And, and there's a step where I, did, I didn't mention yet, which is also very important in a, in a healing process is to really choose not to follow the fear, not to follow the worrying part, because very often we're also wired to, if there's a problem to solve, we start worrying and overthinking.

So not to follow that anymore. So don't allow your brain, your, your thoughts, your frame of reference to always follow that worrying. but just, relate to the good information, connect always to the, where's the joy, where's the love, where's the appreciation, what can I be grateful for, training yourself to be in that higher vibration, so your qi field gets stronger.

So that is step four. And step five is then the actual energy shift you have activated and keep on activating that energy shift. Keep on choice, you know, making that choice all the time. Also as a point of reference for me is my Qi field is strong, full of love and joy. And just keep on really, you know, also as a.

That is then step two again, going back to, this is also my intention, my life intention. Because I know with my Qi field full of love and joy, I can help others. I can inspire others. I can teach. I can share. I can, I can do my healings. I can coach the people around that. But sometimes things come in my Qi field that I don't like, you know.

Then I have suddenly a judgment about somebody or something annoys me. Then I know, okay, there's a little bit of cleaning to do in my chief field. So then the whole process starts again. Like, first accepting my resistance. Then working with that internally, or just keep it outside of my head, just, oh, this is, you know, this is the person doing that.

It's not mine. So I can, you know, let it there. Otherwise I have to work and transform that energy and to make maybe my, my own consciousness stronger again, or to, to, to just use that. so it's, it's never ending actually, but it gets easier.

So you're using these five steps, not only for your serious disease or serious sickness that you obviously had to go through and heal. You're using it for everyday situations now, right? So it is your go to place if something pops up and you have a high awareness and say, okay, wait a tick. This is not really what I want in my life.

This is not how I want to be in my life. Then you automatically revert to these. It's five steps, obviously in a much faster way probably than when you're doing a serious illness thing. and you use it to make sure your, your consciousness, your mindset stays where you want it to be, which then in turn doesn't invite any illnesses or bad stuff into your life because, you know, your, your, your, your information level is healthy and positive and cheerful.

Right.

Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. So for me, it's just a reminder to, and a place to go back to like, okay. So like last, like last week, I had, had a very intense course, Deepening Awareness. And, I love that course. You know, and I, I, I, you, you know, you know which one I mean, where I subscribed and this, but it's kind of intensive.

So things will start shifting. And I had set my intention very clearly. So when you have this very clear intention, the qi field will work for you. Things will gonna shift. Things will come up. And with me, that was again, this intense, resistance. And I hadn't had that for a few years, and then I felt so much resistance, and I thought, Oh, God, this guy and his accent and his blah, blah, blah, and it was so much resistance.

And then I knew, so first I was like, what is this? And I judged myself being in that place again. How come I thought I was healed? I was on a high level. Now I'm back in this resistant place. And then I thought, okay, don't stop, go on, go on, because apparently this is a mental qi reaction. So then the next day I did it again, got even worse.

So then I knew, okay, now the qi is working a lot. This is, now it's happening. Apparently from a deeper, deeper level, there was resistance coming up again and a lot of emotions. Okay. And I was like, and then I thought, oh yeah, step one is. Keep on moving, you know, moving, moving, just let it go. Let it go. Let it go.

Step two, embracing, accepting everything. Which is also being in a resistant place again, you know, having emotions again, the judgments around that, as a Qigong teacher to be back in that place, everything. And, you know, I was embracing and saying yes to everything that was there. Then it's gone. Then it has no power anymore over you.

So then I could just go back to step three, which is Setting this very clear intention. How do I want to be in this, in this process? Who do I want to be? You know, I want to be joyful in this process. I want to be full of love and strength in this process. You know, relax in it. This is good. So it's, it's, it's, it's everything together of course working, but for me it's like, okay, oh yeah, yeah, thank you, I can go back there.

So then the joy comes back, and then the gratefulness comes back, and the trust in, in the whole process and myself, and then you are in your new, in your new energy.

Right.

that's that's step five and it's okay. Yeah. So, so also this whole thing can go quicker, more and more quick. So, so you don't have to be stuck in that place for weeks or something.

yeah. Which is, which is nice.

And I'd also like to know, in this, in this process, we would describe it as a process that one, two, three, four, five, but if I think of certain steps, they might actually happen simultaneously or, like the, the joyfulness and the, the part cause for many of us, we, we are, when we have something, we start in such a miserable place.

Maybe the first point is to look into stuff that we can be grateful for, to look into How can we have fun? How can we enjoy our lives? And so it doesn't, it's not a strict first do this, then do that. You know, these steps can, you know, vary on different levels, come up at different levels, but all of them are essential.

I don't think it's possible. Oh yeah. And they, yeah, and for some of us, one step might be more important, or we might have to put more focus on more efforts than on others because we are all different people. Right?

Oh yeah. You're totally right. And, and I, I also know that when my healing journey started, there was no acceptance. So that was something I developed later. So then there was the other stuff that I, I was just feeling more and more joyful. still having the symptoms, but never, still not accepting. So, so you're totally right.

it's not a list per se. It's, something that is on all levels, all the time growing, evolving. So yeah, it's, absolutely true.

And I'm glad you bring up the acceptance points once again, because, if you, if you, if fate strikes you hard and strikes you hard and you have a serious disease, it's very difficult for most people to accept. Now, what we don't mean with acceptance is that you should like that, improve, approve it, happy about it.

That's not what we are saying. Acceptance simply means this is the way things are right now. Right? So it's a bit like with the weather. Yeah, I might not like it, but that's just the way it is. This is the way it is. Let's not put any energy into it. It's just the way it is. Let's, it's fine. No worry. and let's focus on what we want to create.

But you seem, you seem, puzzled there. Is it, am I on the

Yeah, well, for me, acceptance, of course, I've also been puzzled exactly like you say, because I was afraid if I accept it, I approve it. so I, for me, it felt like dangerous to accept it because then I think, okay, so, so you're saying actually this is okay and it is so not okay.

Yes.

so you're right.

It's, it's good to just accept that this is now how it is and that's okay. You know, I didn't ask for it. We can have a discussion around that. but this is my past, what happened, so now I, the only thing I can do is to, to, to see what comes my way, not as something happening against me, but how I can make this work for me.

and, if I just embrace it and say, okay, this is it. Where do we move from here?

but it's also working with the frame of reference because then, you know, I was also judging myself being in that position, not being able to work, being a sort of a person that I saw that has, you know, so that is, that is working with self love.

And self acceptance and, and also always treating yourself as a Buddha, as a master, Dr. Pang Ming said, treat yourself as a Buddha. Never look down on yourself. Always be proud of yourself. Never put yourself down in what situation. you are. So that was helpful to also for me to work with self love. Okay, I can love myself anyway, or even now when I'm not living up to all the expectations I had from my life, from myself.

I love myself in this position, in this vulnerable position. which is not a popular place to be in, huh? Being in an illness. so love yourself still in that process. It's doing so good. This is my life and I'm, I'm moving here. I'm moving my energy away from this. I can trust myself being strong enough. to walk this path and heal myself.

That was great Lot. thank you very much. I think you've covered the whole ground here. I think we should just repeat the five points one more time from you so that it gets stuck with all of us and that we can use this for our own healing and for our own walkthrough life.

Oh, that's beautiful. Okay, but, but as you said, not as one, two, three, four, five, just as maybe one, three, five, two, four, but just helpful steps to take in whatever order. So one, start moving. Just start moving. You know, sometimes you're stuck. Just go walking. But also like, of course, mentally something, something needs to shift.

But in a loving way, not like, oh, you're doing something wrong. No, not like that. And then start your practice. Please just really start practicing. two, accept the now. Accept everything. Embrace. And, you know, embrace yourself in it. Send self love. And start also developing trust. So it's quite a lot for one step.

And then work with your intention. Where do you want to go? Oh, I'm in Paris. I want to go to Berlin. Already take the happiness and the Berlin energy into Paris and be there and enjoy there. Step four, activate joy, appreciation, gratefulness. There's so much to enjoy in life when you don't focus on the illness or the symptoms.

And also in the body. You can say something is a little bit not working, but a big part of the body is healthy. So you make that part bigger instead of focusing on that little part that is not so healthy yet. And so then the last step is the energy shift. It's, it's really activate this energy shift, keeping yourself in this new energy of, of, of joyfulness, love, where you let go of the stuff that wasn't like healing your qi field or was not healing your life and give yourself time to move into that other energy where, where life is so much more beautiful. and in the whole process. Forget about the symptoms. Don't give them any attention. That's not what, what it's about.

Absolutely. And, I'm just, yeah, when you, all these points are beautiful and I think they all belong to each other so that you can't separate one from the others. And just the last words you said, what was the last word you said? Don't give your, don't give attention to the symptoms.

And that brings me just back. I know, I know I've just finished the podcast, but I still want to bring out this point because, this is the same thing as acceptance. If I accept something completely, I don't give it any energy anymore. I don't give it any attention. And I think this is why this acceptance part is so important because this is the only way we can get our mind of the problem and focus on the where we want to be.

Yeah. You can just see it as sort of like giving you some information that something has to shift in the, in your energy and that's all. And then, Oh, thanks for sharing. And, you know, and, and, and be really like follow your own wisdom and okay. But I. I know where I'm going. I'll be healthy. I'll be completely healthy.

So, and that actually already you are, and that is the power of the intention. Yeah.

alright. Thank you very much a lot for sharing this with me. I was very excited when you said yeah, that you've.
